Do You Want To Build A Sandcastle?
Sand building is a staple of summer! This is a simple and easy to put together activity – all you need is sand, a container, shovels and some plastic cups. Let your child go wild and get creative! You and your child can look at photos of sand castles online together and try to recreate what you see.
Materials:
- Sand
- Container
- Plastic Cups
- Shovels
Age-appropriate Adaptations:
- Two-year-olds—If you are concerned your child will put sand in their mouth you can make moon sand (2 cups flour ¼ cup oil) it will feel and mold like wet sand and is safe to eat!
- Three-year-olds—Have your child count as they scoop and pour the sand. Pretend to be pirates and dig a hole to bury your treasure. Let you child be a silly and explore their imagination.
- Four-/Five-year-olds—Find some photos or video clips and challenge each other to make a castle like the ones you see. Your child will be excited to work together and build a fun castle!
