About Phoenix Children’s Academy Preschool in Surprise
The directors, teachers, and staff at Phoenix Children’s Academy Private Preschool, Surprise want your entire family to feel at home every time you step into our preschool. We believe that the care of young children creates a partnership between family and school and we constantly communicate with you about your child’s daily activities and academic progress.
Our playground is an amazing place for young children to explore and play. The kids especially love our covered play areas, basketball court, and our splash pad. We also have a Smart Board, which allows us to engage our preschool students in a variety of educational games in the morning and afternoon.

The Ascend Curriculum
Academic development is always an important part of a preschool curriculum, but we believe that young children need social, emotional, and physical development too. The Ascend Curriculum provides our teachers a balanced framework for engaging our preschool students and we help children reach important milestones in subjects such as Mathematics, Literacy, Cultural Understanding, and Technology every month.
Unlike many preschools where children stay in the same classroom all day, children rotate between our math and science room, creative arts room, and our technology lab on a daily basis. In addition, we separate preschool classrooms into six month age ranges so that students are with children at a similar level of development.
Kind Child
Kindness is the foundation of our preschool’s culture and an important part of our curriculum. Each month, our teachers work with our students to develop social skills, a positive self-image, and important character traits like friendship, empathy, thankfulness, and responsibility. The goal of Kind Child is to elevate the emotional-well being of every child and encourage friendships.
What Makes Our Preschool Unique?
Our school director, has been with our preschool since we opened in 2009. In addition, our teachers collectively have more than 75 years of experience in either a preschool or daycare setting. We all love what we do and have a passion for working in child care!
As a member of the Surprise community, we think it’s important to be involved in community events. We are a proud sponsor of Surprise Parks and Rec and participate in the Surprise Party every December. We also sponsor a day at the local ballpark for spring training, where families come out and have a great time enjoying baseball and ballpark food. We also have fun family events throughout the year including Parent’s Night Out, Trunk or Treat, science fair, and school picnics.

Melissa Phillips
School Director
I have been working with children since 1995. I started working with children while I was in high school, and I fell in love with it. I was a preschool teacher for over 10 years. I completed my CDA in 2010 and moved to Arizona. I have worked in preschools since 2004 where I have had many positions including teacher, Assistant Director, Director, and Senior Director. I love FOOTBALL the Green Bay Packers. My favorite thing to do when I have extra time is race. I spend most of my free time with my family. Throughout the years I have been able to watch so many children grow. Seeing the excitement of learning. After working with children all this time, I love seeing them all grown up and what they have become.
Danielle Stark
Assistant Director
I have been working in the Early Childhood environment since 2014. I started out volunteering in the Children’s Ministry at my church. I discovered that I loved working with children and decided that I wanted to make a career out of it. In my free time I enjoy reading, cooking and watching movies with my family and friends.
