About Cadence Academy Preschool in La Porte, TX

Families in La Porte have entrusted the care and early education of their children to Cadence Academy Preschool, La Porte for well over 30 years. Our directors, teachers, and staff are dedicated and nurturing child care professionals who are here to help your family make the most of these precious early years.

We take a skill-based approach to early education that balances social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The flexibility built into our curriculum allows us to customize educational activities to match the interests and current skill level of each student so that these first educational experiences are engaging and fun!

Our Preschool & Childcare Programs

Kind Child

Our Kind Child program was designed to help young children develop social skills and character. We focus on social-emotional skills within our monthly curriculum and introduce character traits like Responsibility, Thankfulness, and a Positive Self-Image every two months.

The goal of Kind Child is to elevate the emotional well-being of every child in our care and enrich friendships. We also spread kindness into our community through local volunteer activities and by holding Kind Child events like our annual Trike-A-Thon, which raises funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Kindergarten Readiness

An exceptional education is an important part of our preschool’s promise to you. Most daycare centers and preschools that you’ll encounter when searching for care either have no curriculum or utilize a curriculum based on themes. We take a different approach.

Our Ascend Curriculum is skill-based and focuses on progressively building skill sets across nine different subjects each month. We work towards age-appropriate developmental milestones in every program and fine-tune important skills just before kindergarten during Kindergarten Club. We want your child to develop a lifelong love of learning and enjoy the exciting transition into elementary school!

Hello, I am Yvonne Carney, I have been a part of the family since July 8, 1985. I started working in childcare after I graduated from La Porte High School in 1985. During my time as a teacher for twenty years, I was given the opportunity to learn many skills, including being a better mother to my son. As time went by, my skills improved as a lead teacher and soon after I became Director. I have been the proud Director of a school that is known by many generations in our community. I have been married to my best friend, Gary, for 26 years. We were blessed with a son, Andrew. They are my heart and soul. My hobbies include crocheting, RC cars, camping, fishing, and sewing. My favorite thing to do is interacting with children.

I have been employed at The Peanut Gallery since September 2007. I joined as an Infant Teacher, then on to Lead Teacher, Office Help, and now Assistant Director. I was recently promoted to Assistant Director in August of 2014. I have two girls 2 and 10! I am an artist, besides working at The Peanut Gallery this is my favorite hobby. I love painting, drawing, and trying new art projects teachers and children throw my way. I believe in “Living for the moments you can’t put into words.”

I have been employed at Pals/The Peanut Gallery for 31 years this July. My 2 grown children have been through our program and now my three grandchildren. I enjoy photography, scrapbooking, and boating with my family.

I have been using The Peanut Gallery, now known as Cadence Academy, since my son was 6 months old in 2019 and absolutely love this school because of the Assistant Director, Ms. Robin. She is the most personable and caring person a parent could ask for and both of my kids love and adore her. All of the staff are great, but Ms. Robin is the best and I couldn’t be more thankful for her. I’ve had peace of mind since day one and that is hard to find as a parent leaving their child at a daycare. 1000000% recommend to all parents looking for childcare.

We've had an amazing experience with Cadence Academy, especially thanks to Assistant Director Robin. From the very beginning, she made the process of enrolling our daughter smooth and stress-free. She was incredibly helpful, always making sure that all our questions and concerns were answered and that we felt confident in our decision to have our daughter attend there. What really stands out is her kindness and courtesy—every time we visit, she greets us with a warm hello and good morning and always makes a point to say goodbye before we leave. It’s the small things like this that make Cadence Academy feel like a welcoming and caring environment. First I would like to say that I love working at Cadence Academy, La Porte!!! Secondly, I have worked with Robin, the assistant director, for many years. I have learned so much from her. She is the most soft spoken, sweetest person. She is always friendly, helpful and professional when it comes to her job. She goes above and beyond for our families and employees.
